LG announces modern Android flip phone for Korea, the LG Gentle

While most modern smartphones are large touchscreen slabs, there are still people who long for the good old flip phone.

A couple of months ago my article on reasons to still consider a flip phone was more popular than I anticipated. It seems that some people still like using flip phones and if you are in South Korea then you can pick up a new LG Gentle running Android 5.1 Lollipop.

LG states that the flip phone form factor is beneficial to the elderly and those who have trouble pressing buttons on a touch screen because of the large physical keypad. The back of the LG Gentle looks to have a faux leather finish on it to help with grip as well.

Specifications of the LG Gentle include a 3.2 inch 480x320 pixels LCD touchscreen display, 1.1 GHz quad-core processor, rear 3 megapixel camera and front VGA camera, 1700 mAh removable battery, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, microSD expansion card slot, size of 117.7 x 58.7 x 16.6 mm, and a weight of 143 grams.

It's doubtful we will see this launch in the US or Europe, but it is interesting to see LG continue to make a modern flip phone and find a market willing to purchase one.

Thanks to Android Central for the heads-up on this announcement.
