If your national organisation wants local websites, WordPress MultiSite is absolutely fantastic software. It's what runs WordPress.com, the uber-blogging platform of the people.

If you want social glue so that users can communicate easily with each other, BuddyPress is a magnificent social media plugin that perfectly complements the absolutely fantastic software.

However, what if you have multiple, disparate WordPress websites that you would like to manage from One Mighty Dashboard?

Fear not, there is a (free-for-now) service out there for you called, imaginatively, ManageWP. I haven't tried it myself but there are some nice looking features, such as backup and bulk edits. Apparently it will cost about 50 cents to $1 per blog per month.

A big thank you to Open Source Training for the lead.
