McAfee has announced the availability of ePolicy orchestrator (ePO) 1.1, a single-server solution to manage anti-virus policy across a corporate network or the Internet.

According to McAfee, Network Associates, Inc., McAfee ePO allows software deployment across multi-users platform, remote management and virus reporting so as to ensure virus protection for remote enterprise users.

Software deployment
The ePO solution allows the IT administrator to force updates to remote users from a single console. It enables system alerts about virus definition updates to the entire enterprise in virus outbreaks on email, pagers, or other portable devices. McAfee ePO also works with the McAfee VirusScan Thin Client (TC), reducing the time it takes to deploy standard VirusScan software.

Remote management
The McAfee ePO gives virus protection to employees who do not dial into the corporate network, but dial into an ISP to access their company e-mail via centralized control of Internet virus security in the network.

Consolidated reporting
McAfee ePO creates a log of all tasks performed by anti-virus software anywhere in the enterprise, providing reports on viruses. One server provides visibility into virus activity across each console, comparing infections and cleanings across desktop, server, groupware and gateway machines. It keeps virus security up to date by reporting on coverage levels for every tier of defense.

In order to keep the system free and clear of potential virus threats, ePO helps to locate common virus entry points and monitors anti-virus policies, including which users are detecting and cleaning viruses. The product provides an infection rate report from multiple servers, including those machines without protection, and color-codes those reports to indicate severity.

Pricing and availability
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 1.1 based on licensing depending on the number of users in the network. It starts at US$11 per node for 500 nodes for one-year subscription.
