Commerce One is to receive a $25m loan from Microsoft to develop B2B software for the Seattle giant's .Net platform.

A deal signed today between the two companies will see Commerce One use the funding to develop marketplace software for use on the .Net infrastructure, with both companies working together on engineering, sales and marketing of the joint marketplaces. Commerce One has previously collaborated with Microsoft on XML standards including Microsoft's Biztalk server and as a member of the UDDI project.
