299 billion reasons why Microsoft is the best...

Microsoft has regained its title as the world's most valuable company - knocking General Electric (GE) off number one spot. Thanks to a slight increase in stock price the software company now has a market capitalisation of $299bn. This puts GE back in second place with a value of $295bn. GE had held the top position since April 2000, only briefly surpassed by Cisco Systems. Microsoft managed to sneak past to number one in 1999 but the success was short-lived.
