Under CEO Patrick Downing GCS, which holds the hospital2000.com domain, was working on a Windows-based system at Bumrungrad International Hospital which it said greatly reduced wait times to see a doctor.
In addition to the technology, Microsoft also wins contracts with 7 hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region which had installed GCS software.
It's unclear at this point just exactly how all this fits together. GCS was essentially a Windows VAR, and Microsoft now has the option of integrating its offering with that of Azyxxi or simply replacing it with the new product. What seems clear is GCS will be assimilated.
The move follows the launch of both Azyxxi and Microsoft HealthVault, as well as Microsoft's purchase of a small medical search firm early this year.
