What a difference six months make.

The green technology research practice at Forrester Research reports this week that enterprise businesses are including more environmental criteria in the selection of IT products. This is the second poll on green tech issues that the research firm has fielded this year. While that’s a positive sign, in my opinion, this is no major victory: the number of companies for which this is true represents just 38 percent of the respondents for Forrester's October poll, vs. 25 percent of respondents back in April.

The top motivator for this action was energy-related savings, no surprise. But the second most popular driver was directly related to the environment. Which did give me a bit of a thrill. Here’s a recap.

The final stat worth mentioning: Only 15 percent of the surveyed companies have a green plan, although 25 percent in the process of formulating one. So things are likely to be very different six months from now, too.
