MS sings Memphis delay blues

Microsoft may be singing the Memphis blues again as reports of delays for the next version of Windows 95 leak out.

According to US trade newspaper PC Week, the promise of tight integration between Internet Explorer (IE) 4.0 and the operating system - known by its Memphis codename or as Windows 9x - seems to be slowing progress of the OS. The Memphis beta is to be delayed until at least April, according to the report. Microsoft had previously planned a beta for the first quarter of 1997.

Similarly, a Wall Street Journal report claims Microsoft is already telling major customers not to expect to see Memphis on Christmas 1997 PCs.
