Microsoft has fleshed out details of one of the components of Visual Studio, its developer tools package due for release on March 19, by making available for download a Trial Edition of Visual J++ version 1.1.

This release of Microsoft's Java development tool has new Wizards including one for creating ActiveX objects, as well as an improved development environment which integrates with Visual Studio features such as DataTips.

The 22Mb download lacks some features of the Professional Edition that will ship with Visual Studio. Among these are code samples and database connectivity for dBase, FoxPro, SQL Server, Paradox, Microsoft Excel, and Oracle.
