MS wants to see Win CE everywhere

Emulating Psion, Microsoft plans its Windows CE handheld computer operating system to embrace a gamut of embedded applications. Big Green envisions CE being used in industrial automation systems, point-of-sales terminals and telecommunications devices.

Microsoft said that its support for familiar Windows APIs and multiple CPU flavours would make CE attractive to developers. To help developers, Microsoft will release the OEM Adaptation Kit (OAK), a set off tools to ease porting and creating applications.
