Musical youth targets for HP's new machines

Hardware/software giant attempts to grab attention of music-savvy consumers with latest PC line

Hewlett-Packard is getting into the groove with five new desktop PCs with musical capabilities. On Monday the company announced the new Pavilion desktop PCs, which include MusicMatch Jukebox software and a CD-Rewritable drive. MusicMatch enables users to record, organise and playback digital music.

The new PCs in HP's Pavilion 8500 and 6500 series include faster processors and increased memory. A Pavilion 8550 model, with an Intel 500MHz Celeron processor and the musical capabilities starts at $1049 (£640), while a Pavilion 6535 PC, with a 466MHz Celeron, starts at $599.
