The Norwich and Peterborough building society today published feedback on one of the UK's first Internet home banking trials.

Building society staff used the Internet to carry out basic banking tasks such as checking the balance, paying bills and ordering statements, in order to simulate the way in which end-users might bank. The feedback indicated that online banking could provide more on-screen information about balance statements and would be useful for viewing statements. The dry run also suggested that it would make paying bills easier and response times faster.

The trial was set up in April this year and is now close to completion. The online banking service will go live in mid-1997, according to the firm.
