Netegrity's MobileMinder product enables companies to secure their mobile applications with features such as single sign-on, self-registration, and password services, on a wide range of devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants, and pagers.

The challenge more companies are facing is to extend their security and user management infrastructure to the new world of wireless devices and transactions, without requiring significant changes to their current infrastructure.

Netegrity's MobileMinder technology aims to enable companies to securely manage their mobile users with a policy-based security and user management solution.

Features are bring planned to support for multiple mobile devices including WAP Phones, i-mode, and PDA devices, as well as support multiple gateways including the OpenWaves Up.Link WAP Gateway, i-mode, Nokia's WAP Gateway products, and Palm.NET.

MobileMinder APIs enable companies to build custom support for additional devices, leveraging an open and extensible platform for future functionality. Through its "ready-to-run" device-based session schemes, MobileMinder recognizes the devices and determines the optimum single sign-on approach based on the capabilities of the device.

Intelligent proxy rules allow XML-based configuration files to enable mobile users to be routed to different destinations based on the device they are using to access the site.

Netegrity's MobileMinder solution provides single sign-on for applications at the e-business Web site that will be accessed from mobile devices, fine-grained entitlement management to define policies to manage wireless user access to applications or services.

Content to the wireless device can be personalized by MobileMinder and configured for the display type. User self-service features include registration and password services.

MobileMinder integrates with Netegrity's SiteMinder product to provide companies with one solution for managing all of the different devices used to access e-business Web sites, ranging from cell phones to desktop computers to PDAs.

The combination of these two products assists in providing a centralized solution for providing shared services such as single sign-on, password services, and entitlement management across the wired and wireless environments.

"Netegrity's vision has always been to support any type of user, using any type of device to access any type of application or service on an e-business Web site," said Bill Bartow, vice president of marketing of Netegrity.
