New Starbucks Lyft partnership to provide Starbucks Rewards for customers, partners, and drivers

Starbucks continues to establish partnerships with other companies in order to provide benefits to its customers and employees.

Starbucks continues to expand its ecosystem and attempt to improve experiences for its employees and customers. In May, Starbucks announced a partnership with Spotify and today we read of its new Lyft partnership.

This new multi-year arrangement will give Lyft drivers the option of becoming My Starbucks Rewards gold status members while these Lyft drivers and its customers can both earn loyalty stars good towards food and drinks at Starbucks.

While riders don't leave tips for drivers when services such as Lyft and Uber, this new program will let customers thank Lyft drivers for good service by sending Starbucks eGifts to the drivers.

John Zimmer, co-founder and president of Lyft, stated:

There are two things most of us do every morning: get a cup of coffee and commute to work. Together with Starbucks, we can make both a friendlier, more enjoyable experience. Lyft and Starbucks share a lot of the same customers and importantly we share a commitment to doing right by our customers and our people. In the days, months and years ahead, we will launch exciting programs for loyal community members, and new products that will change the way we move around our cities.

Starbucks and Lyft will also further evaluate the possibility of using Lyft to provide transportation for Starbucks employees, called partners, since public transportation doesn't always work well with work schedules.
