According to the Wall Street Journal, Universal Music Group's planned external trial of an online music selling system has been cancelled due to technology glitches.

The system -- Project Nigel -- is a joint development with AT&T, BMG Entertainment, a unit of Bertelsmann AG, and Japanese electronics firm Matsushita Electric Industrial.
