News Burst: Nokia mobile phones to sing EMI hits

But are you prepared to pay to have a flashy ring tune?

In a deal announced Wednesday, Nokia phone users will soon be able to change their ring tone to a tune from EMI Music Publishing's catalogue. However, they'll have to pay for it.

The service will be rolled out this autumn. Tunes will be available from the Club Nokia Web site, or by sending an SMS message to a dedicated telephone number. Final pricing hasn't been announced, but it is expected that each tune will cost less than £1.

EMI recently settled a lawsuit with yourmobile.com, who it accused of copyright piracy, and fraudulent and deceptive conduct. Yourmobile lets users download mobile phone ring tunes for free.
