Attorney General Janet Reno, Assistant Attorney General Joel Klein and New York Attorney General Dennis Vacco will take the stage at 12pm eastern time today to formally announce sweeping antitrust lawsuits against Microsoft by the U.S. Department of Justice and up to 20 states.

According to sources close to the states' action, a request for a preliminary injunction against Windows 98 may be part of the suits. However, other press reports this morning said that rather than block the shipment of the operating system to OEMs, the DOJ and the states will seek to get changes made before the OS reaches consumers.
