NextGen CIO: The CIO MasterClass participants

With the completion of the ZDNet and Charles Sturt University NextGen CIO course, six graduates have been selected to continue in the CIO MasterClass mentoring program.

Following ZDNet and Charles Sturt University's online five-week NextGen CIO course, six of the best-performing students have been selected to continue with the CIO MasterClass.

These students will be paired with some of the country's leading CIOs in a private mentoring and development program designed to build on the leadership capabilities developed in the NextGen CIO course.

ZDNet is pleased to announce that the following participants have been selected to continue in the CIO MasterClass.

Jane Brewer

Jane Brewer works for Vero in New Zealand. Brewer is currently on secondment, leading the strategic program of work for investment in technology for Vero. Brewer has worked within IT for 15 years, focusing on the insurance and banking industries. Her roles have included asset management team leader, Business Analysts; team leader, Business Analysts; project manager; application support team leader; and executive manager, Solutions Delivery.

Brewer will be mentored by General Motors Korea CIO Pierre Matthee .

Richard Burke

Richard Burke has been working in IT since 2000, starting his career at Macquarie University, working in a desktop support role and moving through Micros Systems to his current role as IT service delivery manager at Sony DADC. He is currently undertaking a masters in IT management through Macquarie University, and hopes to use the NextGen CIO program to complement his level of study and further focus on the leadership and strategy aspects of management.

Burke will be mentored by Coca-Cola Amatil CIO Barry Simpson .

Anthony Camilleri

Anthony Camilleri is an 18-year veteran in the telecommunications industry and a current senior solutions manager for NBN Co. In his career, Camilleri has built IT teams that have constantly delivered results through the alignment of his customers' needs with the business goals, whilst using the most advanced technologies to drive the outcomes. Camilleri has held senior roles within organisations such as Telstra, Optus, Uecomm, and NBN Co.

Camilleri will be mentored by McDonald's Australasia CIO and vice-president Henry Shiner .

Atiq Chowdhury

Atiq Chowdhury is currently working as the software development manager at retail and marketing company Creative Activation, responsible for overseeing its clients' requirements. Chowdhury has over 10 years' experience in software development, including expertise in software architecture, database implementation, and project management. Chowdhury has also published two papers focusing on how to develop better software.

Chowdhury will be mentored by Suncorp CIO Fiona Floyd .

Nalin Edirisuriya

Nalin Edirisuriya has over 24 years of IT experience within numerous industries, ranging from banking, retail, and airlines across numerous Asian countries. He currently holds a management position within Jetstar's IT systems support services division. Edirisuriya has a graduate diploma in programming, several technical certifications, and ITIL qualifications. He was also involved in developing next-generation IT solutions for the Airline IT industry. Edirisuriya is very passionate about service delivery and working on innovative solutions for IT folks to work smarter.

Edirisuriya will be mentored by Melbourne's Metropolitan Fire Brigade CIO Craig Lloyd .

Anand Viswanath

Anand (Andy) Viswanath has close to 10 years' experience in IT, specialising in information security and risk management, and currently hold a management position within Deloitte's Risk Services practice. He has extensive experience leading teams both onshore and offshore, delivering security components to clients such as ANZ, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Telstra, and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Prior to joining Deloitte, he worked for Accenture consulting for over four years.

Viswanath will be mentored by Seek Limited CIO David Gibbons .
