Ng Kai Wa CEO-cum-chairman of IP telephony company InnoMedia, Ng Kai Wa, is a firm advocate of living life without regrets. It is enough to learn from life’s experiences, and to strive to be a better person each day. One of life's objectives, after all, is to make the world a better place to live in, he avers.
Describe your achievements and the impact on the industry.
I am actively involved in driving the adoption of IP communication technology ... We firmly believe that [this] technology will change the way people communicate.

As [co-founder and] CTO at Creative, I helped to create the Sound Blaster, which revolutionized the PC multimedia industry ... PC games now come with all kinds of sound effects.

What do you like about your work?
It has been my desire to help make this world a better world to live in. I believe everyone should make this an objective of their life. What I like about my work is that we are building an organization that harnesses technology to help make this place a better world.

Do you have a personal business philosophy that you adhere to?
I believe that value creation is the justification for the existence of a business. If a company cannot create value, then it should not exist. In reality, a business also needs to capture the value created in order to survive. That is to say, a business needs to translate the value created into profits. I believe that in this process, we should be fair, sincere and build long-term relationships with our customers and partners.

How do you define success? Do you consider yourself to be successful?
Working towards attaining success is really an on-going process, and I believe I am heading in the right direction.

What is your proudest achievement so far?
I am proud to have helped create the Sound Blaster, but I am even more proud to have founded InnoMedia, a company that stands for values that I believe in and subscribe to.

Is there anything you would have done differently if given the choice?
I am a firm believer that we should not regret what we should or should not have done. It is important that we learn from life’s experience, and strive to be a better person each day. In striving for success, we must never fail to overlook the objective of making this world a better place to live in.

What is you favorite form of relaxation?
I have always enjoyed playing badminton. To me, a simple game of badminton keeps me relaxed. It is also a sport which I can engage in with my staff and family. Playing badminton not only provides an avenue for me to get to know my staff better, but also provides the much needed interaction on an informal basis between management and staff.

Which Web sites do you visit most often? What kind of books do you read?
I surf Web sites that help me to keep in touch with the latest news, as well as corporate movements. Yahoo! is also one of the Web sites that I visit most often. I consider books as a very rich source of knowledge, and very often I find myself reading management books. Books allow me to apply what I read to the actual corporate environment here at InnoMedia.
