No shocker: IBM tops list of the greenest biggest computers

You won't be surprised to hear that IBM systems are all over the latest Green500 energy-efficient supercomputer list. Again.
Written by Heather Clancy, Contributor

The latest Green500 list of the world's most energy-efficient supercomputers is out and guess which company is on top again?

No, really.

OK, it's IBM.

Surprised?

No, I didn't think you would be, since the company has handily dominated this list for several editions running. In fact, IBM accounts for the top 18 out of the top 20 high-performance computers that are listed here. The one on the very tippy top is a system at the Julich supercomputing center in Germany, which is a collaborative project between IBM and an academic research consortium. It produces more than 723 millions of floating point operations per second.

Really.
