Nokia Email unable to connect issue solved on my new Nokia N85

After seeing my buddy Rafe's OLED display on the new Samsung I7710 S60 device I pulled the trigger on a new Nokia N85 when the North American versions became available last week. I found a decent deal at Newegg and trust them so I placed my order and to my delight it arrived on Tuesday, the 23rd. One of the first things I loaded up was the Nokia Email client, but unfortunately I kept getting an "Unable to connect with information provided." error and tried to connect for the last few days without any success.

I searched all over and read through hundreds of user comments before I found a comment left by Eric on the Nokia Beta Labs blog. Eric's post is copied below and after following it, Nokia Email works like a charm on my new N85.

Hi all, last night I tried upgrading to the new Nokia Messaging on my E71. Like a lot of you, I was frustrated by the “unable to connect with information provided. please try again” error. I had tried everything I could think of, including wiping my entire E71 and retrying. Nothing worked. I was ready to condemn Nokia to the seventh level of hell.

Today I logged into the email.nokia.com website, and like last night everything looked fine and dandy. At random, I decided to “change” the settings on my gmail account. I went into the account I had stored on the messaging website, and re-saved my password to my gmail account.

I then used the link to re-send the installation txt message to my phone. When the txt hit my phone, it prompted me for my password, and VOILA!! the new Nokia Messaging works like a charm with my E71. It’s as good or better than the beta, which had been working fine.

I am working on my first impressions article of the Nokia N85, but after a couple days of usage I can tell you it is the BEST Nseries device I have ever used due to the brilliant OLED display, long battery life, high quality design and slim form factor, and connectivity options. I could not be happier with my purchase so far and think the N85 will be as big of a hit as the extremely popular Nokia N95.
