DVD trio slash prices Samsung has announced a trio of budget DVD/CD-ROM drives... and about time. The SD-606 is a 6x internal DVD-ROM drive, with transfer rates of up to 8,100KB/sec and 110ms access time, selling for around £50. Next up is the SW-206 CD-RW drive. This records at 6x, re-writes at 4x and reads at the standard 24x. It's yours for around £130. Finally there's the SC-148 internal 48x CD-ROM drive. Samsung says that this uses a new stepping motor, to improve access time, readability and playability. It gives transfer rates of up to 7200KB/sec, with average access times of 80ms, and costs £30. All three drives are in the shops now.
