Nvidia said it plans to have its quad-core Tegra in tablets in August and smartphones by Christmas.
The company made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Nvidia's timeline is notable since rival Qualcomm said Monday that it would sample its quad-core processor in 2012. If these timelines hold, Nvidia will have a nice lead.
At MWC, Nvidia highlighted demos ranging from Web browsing to games. Nvidia's roadmap to 2014 was also highlighted. Nvidia highlighted the quad-core Tegra running on an Android tablet.
The effort to bring the quad-core Tegra to market was dubbed Project Kal-El.
