One Year Ago: Happy AMD posts profitable quarter

AMD is on a roll, following up its K6 processor release by posting a quarterly profit that took Wall Street by surprise.
The Californian chip maker made $12.9m on revenues of $551.9m, its first profit since the equivalent quarter a year ago.
With up to four million K6 chips expected to be shipped this year the firm is expected to post banner figures in forthcoming quarters.
