Some of Optus' large enterprise customers lost some network services early last week after an optical fibre cable got the chop in Sydney.
Among others, the Australian Stock Exchange was hit by the outage, which commenced on Monday September 4, sources told ZDNet Australia. It is understood several investment and trading banks were also affected.

A spokesperson for Optus confirmed the outage today via telephone, saying a fibre optic cable had broken between George and Alfred Streets -- right in the heart of Sydney's financial community in the central business district.

While sources alleged the outage lasted for 24 hours, the Optus spokesperson said the problem was fixed "within hours".
