Optus is hoping the latest price cuts -- which also include three months of free access if the service is used over a 12-month period -- will attract both high- and low-usage customers that do not want to commit to a long term contract.
Scott Lorson, acting managing director at Optus Consumer & Multimedia, said the new pricing structure is based on a similar scheme that Optus has been offering its broadband subscribers over the past year.
"Optus launched a breakthrough offer where consumers were given up to four months free broadband access for bundling their telephony, mobile and broadband services. Based on the strength of our customer response, we have extended this benefit to our dial-up plans," said Lorson.
The new monthly plans, which are available from April 1, include 40 hours of Internet access for AU$9.95; 10 hours Internet access for AU$5.95 and unlimited Internet access for AU$16.95.
