Oracle targets e-waste with new dashboards

Many people tend to think of the electronic-waste or asset disposition problem as this sort of siloed business intelligence challenge, but why wouldn't you consider it in the context of your "normal" day-to-day business processes and enterprise planning applications? That's what Oracle is hoping to encourage by updating and releasing some sustainability software dashboards that hook into some of its existing enterprise applications.

The new Oracle Depot Repair module enables an organization to set parameters for reuse and recycling of materials, products and technologies that have been turned. It also provides features that let a business track weight, units processed and how items were disposed of for compliance purposes. Oracle Depot Repair is part of Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3.

Oracle has also extended its Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center product with something called Sustainability Sensor Data Management, a tool focused on tracking energy usage and related greenhouse gas emissions. The operations center can be used either on its own or as part of the Oracle E-Business Suite. Don't have sensors? No problem, as the Sustainability Sensor Data Management application can also be used to input non-sensor-collected information.
