"The AT&T solution will give Orica's global staff access to its ordering and fulfilment systems based in Melbourne.
"The solution has been designed to provide reliable and flexible global infrastructure support to facilitate Orica's $10 million SAP consolidation project," AT&T said in a statement this afternoon.
AT&T was selected ahead of "several global competitors who were bidding for the contract" because of the carrier's "global reach and long-term experience in the delivery of IP-based solutions", Orica's head of IT shared services, David Vranes, said in the statement.
Orica operates in 100 countries and has 14,000 employees, according to the statement.
