Over on our Datapoint blog, colleague Chris Jablonski  parses the results of the latest IT Priorities Research Program data.

As Chris notes

Every 30 days, the ZDNet Enterprise Research Team selects a representative sample of 500 IT managers who work in organizations of more than 500 employees. We ask them three open-ended questions:

"Currently, what are your IT organization's top 3 priorities (defined as those that have the most resources dedicated to them)?"

"What are the 3 most important technology initiatives your IT organization plans to implement over the next 12 months?"

"What technology trends do you believe will most affect your IT environment in the next 18-24 months?"

According to Chris, Wired and Wireless networking projects, in particular IP telephony, ranks as the number one ongoing initiative. These are followed by Hardware upgrades, Software infrastructure, Web technology and Security.
