Panasonic is updating its Viera Cast service for plasma HDTVs with another way to communicate: Twitter.

The social networking giant is joining an esteemed list of other services available on Panasonic's signature network, including Pandora, Netflix and Skype.

Viera Cast can be accessed from USB-enabled HDTVs via Wi-Fi. There's no additional fee for utilizing this service, and it is accessible from VT25, VT20, G25 and G20 series plasma HDTVs. Viera Cast is also supported by several Panasonic Blu-ray players. At the moment, Twitter is not available this way, but there are plans to bring the 140-character micro-blogging service to this medium eventually.
