Pantech Matrix Pro available from AT&T

The Pantech Matrix Pro was just recently announced and is already available for purchase from AT&T. Both Brighthand and Mobile Tech Review have reviews of the device posted already to give you personal perspectives on using this new Windows Mobile Standard (non-touch screen) device. The Pantech Duo launched in early 2008 as a low cost touch screen Windows Mobile device so it is interesting that the follow-up device moves to a non-touch screen model. Both have the interesting dual slider (keypad in portrait and QWERTY keyboard in landscape) that makes these devices quick unique and also a bit thick.

The Pantech Matrix Pro has the following specifications:

  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
  • Quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA
  • 2.4 inch 240x320 display
  • Qualcomm 528MHz processor
  • 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM
  • microSD card slot
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP stereo
  • Integrated GPS receiver
  • 2 megapixel camera

As you can see in the list above, the Matrix Pro does not have an integrated WiFi radio.

The device sells for US$179 with a 2-year contract and after rebate so it is a reasonably priced alternative for those looking for a rather unique form factor device.
