HONG KONG - Pacific Century CyberWorks' (PCCW) telecommunications unit PCCW-HKT signed a US$30 million agreement with Infonet Services Corp. to provide integrated international communications capacity.
Under the agreement, PCCW-HKT will provide Infonet with 300 Mbps of international capacity to connect Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia within the third quarter of 2000.
The total possible capacity involved in the agreement is equivalent to 1.5 percent of the data requirements in the Asia-Pacific region for 2000/2001, according to forecasts in The Bandwidth Explosion Report 1999, by Ovum, an independent research and communications company.
Infonet will utilize the upgraded capacity in its global data network.
