Personalized Homepage coming for new hosting service

With all the excitement over Google Apps for Your Domain, I thought I'd take a quick look around to see if I could find anything interesting.  I think I did -- it appears Google will offer a customized Personalized Start Page (iGoogle) as part of this new service.

With all the excitement over Google Apps for Your Domain, I thought I'd take a quick look around to see if I could find anything interesting.  I think I did -- it appears Google will offer a customized Personalized Start Page (iGoogle) as part of this new service.
Some companies already have their own start page like Dell and Gateway -- but there is still no way to create one of your own.  According to this support page for GAFYD, it appears we can expect to see something like this very soon.

How would this service work for GAFYD?  It would be nice if the appearance of the homepage was completely customizable (like the Dell example) and companies were able to create custom gadgets.  Who knows, maybe domains using the service will get a private directory to populate -- if this isn't in the plan, it should be.

It is very easy to hook these things into anything from company bulletin boards to project management databases -- a personalized homepage with a good selection of custom gadgets could even replace some intranets.  Though this service probably won't be widely used soon, Google has definitely stuck their foot in the door and they have no plans to leave.
