PlayStation2 sales hit $165m in first three days

PlayStation2s are selling like hot cakes

Research firm NPD Intelect released the first retail sales figures for Sony's PlayStation2 Thursday. According to the report, sales of the gaming system amounted to $165m between 26 October and 28 October, when the supply ran out.

Overall sales in the gaming market, including hardware, software, and accessories, were up 117 percent, with PlayStation2 making up 52 percent of the total. Sales of Sega's Dreamcast systems were also up 25 percent.
