The BT-owned ISP PlusNet is to move all its overseas customer service staff to the UK.

PlusNet already has customer services staff in Sheffield, but BT's 2007 Madasafish acquisition also gave it 100 staff in Durban, South Africa. According to a report in ISPReview, although the South African team has delivered a "great service", PlusNet is keen have its software and network engineers "under a single roof in Sheffield" with customer services staff.

"While we'll be sad to say goodbye to our friends in South Africa, we feel really excited about bringing all of our services back to Sheffield, and this gives us a great opportunity for us to improve our service even more," PlusNet's Bob Pullen is quoted as saying. "It also fits really well with the plain speaking and honest Yorkshire branding of our recent ad campaigns."

A hundred jobs will be moving to Sheffield from South Africa and a further 150 will be created. According to the Sheffield Telegraph, regional development agency Yorkshire Forward is "helping to secure the jobs".
