Public Enemy is Number 1!

The latest Public Enemy album is on the Internet in MP3 format -- a little late, granted, but better late than never.

'There's a Poison Goin' On' was intended for release on May 19 but fans logging on to www.Atomicpop.com and the group's own web site www.public-enemy.com were disappointed to find it not there. The album is now available on both sites.

Public Enemy is the first band to release a whole album over the Internet, following more tentative attempts by the likes of Tom Petty and David Bowie . The album has been released over RealNetworks' new Jukebox, a digital storage system which employs Real Audio and MP3.

Once a user requests the album, they have to cough up $10 (£7ish) before it is released.
