Global corporations lost almost $1.4tr in revenue from security lapses last year, according to a report conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The primary threat to firms were attacks against their operating systems. An explosion in virus attacks affected two-thirds of companies in the past year, leading to significant dents in productivity. A further 15 per cent of those surveyed during the same period were also victims of denial of service attacks. The report collated the responses of 4,500 security professionals, whose experiences helped calculate the costs involved in security breaches worldwide.
