Announced amid the cloud company's Solve leadership summit in San Francisco on Monday morning, Rackspace will now provide support for MariaDB and Percona Server through Rackspace Cloud Databases.

Along with 24/7 monitoring and assistance at the ready, each database configured with the MySQL replacements will operate on infrastructures optimized for the customer.

Touting the expanded support as an answer to developer demand, Rackspace's senior director of product Chris Lalonde boasted in statement that these moves should make "scaling and performance problems a thing of the past."

Rackspace has been busy churning out a number of new products over the last few months.

Earlier in July , the San Antonio, Texas-headquartered company ramped up its managed cloud services with the debut of a pair of new offerings around managed infrastructure and operations.

In June , Rackspace launched OnMetal Cloud Servers, a single-tenant Infrastructure-as-a-Service for elastic computing and scaling application productions. OnMetal servers were designed to be spun up or down as quickly as virtual machines, aiming to serve businesses wanting more dedicated systems for cloud-based systems.

Nevertheless, despite the active product release schedule, new ownership could be on the table.

The IT hosting company admitted in an 8-K filing in May that it has been "approached by multiple parties who have expressed interest in exploring a strategic relationship with Rackspace, ranging from partnership to acquisition."

Rackspace, which had reported better-than-expected earnings a few days prior, asserted no decision had been made at that time.

Rackspace is scheduled to report second quarter earnings on August 11 after the closing bell.
