As one of the fastest growing segments of the Russian IT market, IT services again exhibited significant growth in 2003, with spending bounding up by nearly 28% to more than $1.47 billion in 2003. According to a new IDC study, IT services accounted for just over a fifth of Russian IT market value in 2003, with large projects and larger local players driving things forward. The combined systems integration market (which includes both system and network integration) accounted for the largest share of spending on IT services in Russia last year, rising slightly from 2002. Customization was the second largest area of spending, followed by support and deployment (for both hardware and software). Together, these three areas accounted for more than 71% of spending on IT services in Russia.
