Sanyo VPC-CA102 digital camera shoots 1080p video 10-feet underwater

Just because fall is finally in full swing in most parts of the country doesn't mean waterproof cameras and camcorders should be ignored. Sanyo has debuted the VPC-CA102 pocket camera, which the company touts as ready for snowboarding or deep-sea fishing.

Just because fall is finally in full swing in most parts of the country doesn't mean waterproof cameras and camcorders should be ignored. Sanyo has debuted the VPC-CA102 pocket camera, which the company touts as ready for snowboarding or deep-sea fishing.

The VPC-CA102 is capable of shooting full HD 1080/60i video and 14-megapixel stills on land or up to 10 feet under water. The compact device sports a 2.7-inch LCD that flips outward and supports HD playback.

Probably the best spec on this Sanyo cam is the 12x dual-range zoom capability, allowing the photographer to toggle between wide-angle and telephoto. Users can expect a 40mm – 240mm lens range for video and 38mm – 190mm range for photos.

Otherwise, things are pretty straightforward on this shooter. Additional notable specs include Eye-Fi compatibility, an SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot to match, a mini-HDMI port, face detection in both photo and video modes, and high-speed sequential shooting.

The MSRP for the Sanyo VPC-CA102 is set at $349.99.
