SAP said it will launch its HANA analytics tools to small and mid-sized enterprises in a move that aims to expand the footprint of its appliances.
Specifically, SAP said it will roll out HANA for SAP Business One and HANA Edge.
HANA is an analytics platform that uses in-memory technology. In SAP's most recent quarter, the company said HANA sales topped euro 160 million for the year.
To date, SAP has targeted large companies with HANA. The move to target smaller businesses indicates that SAP is trying to give HANA more distribution. The bet is that small and midsized companies are going to need to crunch unstructured data just like large outfits do.
HANA for Business One is targeted at small companies already using SAP's Business One. This version of HANA is only available through the channel and comes with Crystal Reports, which rolls up operational data. SAP said HANA for Business One will be available later in 2012.
SAP said that HANA Edge edition is designed for midmarket companies, which are running Business All-in-One. The HANA Edge edition can be bundled with BusinessObjects.
