Scrapblog gets venture capital from Disney's Steamboat Ventures

Great news today as Scrapblog raised a round of funding from Steamboat Ventures, the venture firm that's closely tied to the Walt Disney company. Mashable has the scoop and a quote from David Min who will be joining the Scrapblog board as a Steamboat representative: "[Scrapblog] has strong appeal to consumers and the potential to provide real value to brands’ online initiatives.

Disney has a TON of content that would be a great fit for Scrapblog. It's also a very good audience fit with the company. One can imagine a lot of budding scrapbookers who love Disney and would relish a chance to create Scrapblogs with media and assets from their favorite disney movies. This is a really great partnership and a very good strategic move for both companies. As an example of what will hopefully be things to come, Scrapblog and ABC (a Disney subsidiary) have come together to let people create Scrapblogs around Ugly Betty, one of ABC's properties.

Engaging, interactive experiences continue to draw users as well as investors. Scrapblog was one of the first companies to start using Flex and it's paid off very well. They really embraced the RIA strategy and created something fantastic. Congrats to the team.
