UK-based search engine searchUK.com has announced plans to expand its business as Searchengine.com. The multi-million pound global programme will take place over the next three years and aims to create country-specific search engines. Searchengine.com allows Web site designers to provide visitors with localised search facilities that will improve navigation of individual sites as well as the Internet as a whole. Ed Burt, managing director and founder of Searchengine.com, said the wealth of information currently available on the Internet has created a need for more sophisticated search tools. Burt claimed Searchengine.com will be simple to implement and easy to adopt for new technologies such as WAP. The development of the country-specific sites will take place in the UK, but sales and marketing will be done locally.
