According to IDC, a much needed multilayered approach to thwart threats to the enterprise security infrastructure has been the basis for growth in the secure content management industry, which will continue to increase, reaching $7.5 billion in 2008. Antivirus software will represent a 64% share of the SCM market by 2008. SCM appliances, defined by IDC as a combination of hardware and software sold as an appliance with the primary function of performing Web filtering, messaging security, or virus protection, have exploded onto the security scene. The SCM market will grow from $130 million market in 2003, to over $1 billion in 2008.
