In the first half of 2004, the semiconductor market grew by 31.4% compared with the first half of 2003, according to iSuppli. In contrast, data from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), reported here showed that chip sales in the first half of 2004 were up 36.2% on the $74.99 bln it recorded in the first half of 2003. In Q2 2004 worldwide semiconductor revenues rose by 34.4% YTY, according to iSuppli. This is nearly 6% below the claims of the SIA. In August the SIA said worldwide semiconductor sales rose by 40.3% in Q2 2004 YTY.
The SIA has Q2 2004 chip sales at about $53.5 bln compared with $38.1 bln in Q2 2003. iSuppli estimated Q2 2004 sales at about $56.0 bln compared with $41.7 bln in Q2 2003.
