Seoul, Jan 4 (Asia Pulse) - The government is expected to activate a regular ministerial meeting to coordinate policy on e-commerce, sources said Tuesday.
Commerce, Industry and Energy Minister Chung Duck-koo recently forwarded a suggestion on the proposed meeting to the presidential office of Chongwadae, and related ministers showed positive reactions. The projected meeting will cover the ministries of finance and economy, information and communications, commerce, industry and energy and other related agencies that separately handle matters related to e-commerce.
The first regular meeting had been scheduled for January but was postponed to February; it is expected to be held on a monthly or quarterly basis. The regular meeting will deal with legislative initiatives and coordination of diverse regulations on e-commerce and multilateral negotiations through international organizations.
In a related development, the government will develop an integrated e-commerce network by functionally linking separate information networks among public organizations with major economic bodies and the private sector.
