ShoreTel CEO Blackmore to retire

Peter Blackmore says he will retire once the company finds his successor.

ShoreTel, the California-based unified communications company, announced this morning that its president and chief executive, Peter Blackmore, will retire once it finds a successor.

That task falls on the shoulders of Chuck Kissner, the newly-appointed chairman of the company's board of directors. The search for a new CEO is already underway, the company said.

"We intend to keep moving full speed ahead with our near-term plans to launch new innovative products and services and to continue to execute on our combined premise and cloud strategy," Kissner said.

Blackmore leaves the company with almost double the revenue it had when he arrived in 2010 from IP-based networking company UTStarcom. (Before that, he was at Unisys.) His task upon arrival was to scale global operations and accelerate the company’s growth, and it's fair to say he managed that with regard to the company's popular IP business phone service.
