SilkRoute launches spinoff: Latitude Web

E-commerce group SilkRoute, having established a reputation in funding and nurturing Asian internet startups, today launched Latitude Web, their flagship internet consultancy group.SilkRoute, which operates in over 10 markets worldwide, including Silicon Valley, has been in operation since launching from Singapore in 1994.

E-commerce group SilkRoute, having established a reputation in funding and nurturing Asian internet startups, today launched Latitude Web, their flagship internet consultancy group.

SilkRoute, which operates in over 10 markets worldwide, including Silicon Valley, has been in operation since launching from Singapore in 1994.

Founder and Chairman/Managing Director Wong Toon King started the company with less than $100,000. SilkRoute has recently been valuated by investor Pacific Century to be worth about $200 million.

"We're on to the next stage of internet evolution - e-companies supporting e-companies," said Wong, referring to new market niches in e-commerce.

The former government scholar recently moved his family to California, Silicon Valley to direct operations as CEO of Advanced Manufacturing Online Ltd (AMO), another subsidary of the SilkRoute Group.

Wong also mentioned that Silkroute looks for Asian companies to set up and be globally competitive. Towards this goal, it has launched Latitude Web as an internet consultancy."

Latitude Web has served clients such as Singapore Airlines, Starhub, Singapore Tourism Board and Tiger Beer (Asia), amongst others.
