It's happened. Singapore's draft personal data protection act was released last Monday alongside a public consultation. The public consultation ends in April and if everything goes according to plan, the government envisages the Data Protection Act being in place in third quarter this year.

A couple of years back, I said this was coming. It took some time but with this draft, it finally is.

The pieces are falling into place--the draft legislation is out, advertisements for hiring for the data protection commission have appeared, and a rough timeline has been laid out.

Ready your horses.
