SingTel plans to continue with its drive to grow Singapore's mobile developer community, after successfully attracting some 140 ISVs (independent software vendors) to come onboard its developer program, according to a SingTel spokesperson.

Called the SingTel Partner Programme, the initiative was launched in January last year with the aim of supporting mobile developer talent.

SingTel told ZDNet Asia several applications from the 140 participating ISVs have become part of the operator's mobile value added services offerings.

Several examples include its PHONESafe and Locator applications, which are made available to SingTel's mobile subscribers.

While the program was initially slated to cover a period of two years from January 2008, SingTel intends to continue running it by adding it to a broader ISV initiative it is running, called the SingTel Innovation Exchange (SiX).

More recently, SingTel launched a cloud-based marketplace also under SiX, intended to offer Web-based applications from ISVs to business customers.
